Riddle and Barnes met about 10 years ago while volunteering at the Center on Halsted. Riddle organizes pop-up events and parties that catered to queer women and Barnes is a business attorney. After hosting events at other bars, Riddle began thinking about getting into the ownership side of the business.

Progress Bar is a unique site in the Boystown neighborhood, attracting a diverse crowd and maintaining daily drink specials. Located in Andersonville, this Just blocks from the Argyle Red Line station, Big Chicks has been dubbed the "friendliest gay bar" in Uptown for over 28 years. This bathhouse is a favorite in the Chicago gay community, offering hour dry gym, private rooms, a handful of play areas, steam rooms and sauna access.
